APPEARANCE:Suzzie is a black and white Beagle/Dachshund hound mix. She has a black saddle and black on her face, but is predominately white in color, though there are a few dark spots on her limbs. Her eyes are dark and clear, though usually holding a spark of mischief. Her tail is often swaying, until she spots her target and it shoots up like a flag; her tail is black, save the tip which is white. She stands about 14 inches at the withers and weighs about 30 lbs. Her body is slightly longer than that of a typical beagle, thanks to her dachshund ancestory. She still wears the black collar put on her by her human owners, and has yet been able to remove it, though she would like to. Across her left side are three long scars, reminders of an encounter with a mountain lion when she was younger. She tends to keep the scars out of sight of dogs she meets, even though they do not hamper her movement much, as she does not want their initial response to be pity or to have to answer their questions, especially from dogs she does not know. She wants to be judged on her own merit, and not some perceived notion based on old wounds.
PERSONALITY:strengths ;
friendly; helpful; courageous
weaknesses ;
single-minded; hates cats; excitable
Suzzie is a friendly and helpful dog who tends to jump in to help someone out, and then ask questions afterwards. This was behavior she picked up as one of six litter mates living out on a farm. She has no qualms about taking on a dog bigger than herself, as long as she can see exits for a quick escape if necessary. She is courageous, but no dummy. Like a typical beagle, she tends to be single-minded; if she’s on the trail of something, just about everything else is ignored. While this isn’t always a bad thing, it can be if something else has come up that needs her attention. Little more than a pup, she had gone on a hunt with her mother and the farmer. A mountain lion came upon them. Her mother defended the farmer and her pup, and Suzzie tried to help too, but was swatted at by the big cat and sent flying into the trees. From her experience with the mountain lion, she hates cats, even the domestic kind, as she knows they are all related. She will chase away a cat whenever the opportunity presents itself. Additionally, she can be very excitable, and it may take someone more level to calm her down. Though a loner at the moment, Suzzie misses being a part of a group and is looking for a place to belong.
HISTORY:Suzzie was born on a farm. Her mother was a beagle and her father was a dachshund, who had been visiting the farm with his human family, so she never met him. She was one of six litter mates, but as she grew up, it was found she had the “best nose”, so the farmer often took her on hunting trips for rabbits. Over time, he litter mates were sold, but she remained on the farm. Then catastrophe fell, and after a time all the humans were gone. Suzzie remained on the farm with her mother, until the older female died. For a while, Suzzie remained on the farm alone, but the solitude became too much for her. Though not knowing for sure where it would lead her, she started down the road for “the city”. While she is currently alone in a strange place, she is obtimistic to find a place to call Home.
