JAYASHRI
Jaya hadn't been back at the park since yesterday, when she met Hades and joined his pack. She had left shortly after taking a mental note of the other dogs who were also accepted by the Ragdog Royal alpha. She headed toward the old train station. She found shelter there for the night, inside an abandoned train. The doors were left open and her wagon was empty. Nobody had set paw in this wagon in a long time. She hopped on a booth and laid there for the night.
The next morning Jayashri woke up. Her first reaction being the look-smell-listen routine. Surroundings were clear for now. She got up and stretched as she yawned loudly. She walked slowly out of the train, thinking that she should be heading back to meet with the others. Day one of being part of the pack and already feeling the responsibility. The doberman decided to find a morning meal before heading all the way back to central park.
Jaya walked a fast, but silent, paste with her nose to the ground. Tracking down anything she could eat. Most scents were rats but they were the one thing she didn't like to eat. Those filthy creature, what a waste!, she thought to herself. She kept smelling, hoping to catch another scent than the rats. The black and tan dog did find the scent of another type of rodent, a raccoon. Still a garbage eater but doesn't like in filth and desiese. Jayashri came up to a hole in the wall. Oh, you clever thing., she growled to herself.
The doberman knew it was hidden in that hole but couldn't fit through. As she was getting irritated about this lost meal, she stood up strait and alert. Another dog was down here, close enough. Jaya laid her ears back and walked along the wall.

| [atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2dazrwx.png] To patrol. That was one of the duties of a Ragdog Knight. And although this was not technically their ‘home base’, the areas surrounding the park had already felt the determined pawsteps of the setter despite the early hour. The darkness in his mind had awoken the canine early, and he had spent his time exploring the inner city, trying to clear his head. It wasn’t in vain, though, he had figured it would be best to ensure a thorough knowledge of the area – shortcuts, dead-ends. If he needed to face an enemy, he would have the upper paw.
It was with this in mind that he had somehow ended up at the old train station. After much deliberation (he thoroughly despised the human buildings), he had took a breath and entered.
It wasn’t as bad as he had imagined it to be, not quite so claustrophobic as his mind had feared. That didn’t stop the familiar tightening in his throat, however and the chain he wore shook as he tried to stop it from constricting even further. He did not want to get caught up in memories again – that was what he had come here to avoid, and this place was vastly different than what he had known. At least it was quiet here, save for the scuffling of the vermin as they moved in the shadows.
Regaining himself, Ruadh wandered further into the building, claws clicking against the hard concrete. There was a surprising amount of scents in such a place, but maybe that was due to the semi stagnant air. He stopped to sniff the rotting corpse of a particularly large rat, but it made him recoil – not in the condition to even be chewed on. And it was at that point that he sensed it.
It took a while, but gradually the unmistakable scent of a canine wafted through his nostrils and he narrowed his eyes. It shouldn’t be surprising that others would lower themselves to live in such a place; it probably provided adequate shelter. Still, he hadn’t really expected to run into another. Ruadh straightened his body up, making himself seem larger as he called out, mocking sneer evident in his voice. Lost, are we? You know, it’s not polite to sneak up on someone.
Having not made much effort to acquaint himself with the pack, he hadn’t much way of knowing whether this would be an ally or not, particularly since the inner city was not Ragdog exclusive.

The black and tan female doberman kept on following the shadows along the wall and came quietly up behind this red dog. She stood still with her elegant looks and smiled. "Lost?", she chuckled as she examined this stranger. He looked like a strong dog, she might hold a distance until she knew a bit more. "I'm no lost dog.", she walked around the red dog and sat down in from of him. "It looks to me you're the one not familiar with this underground place.", she smiled at him all fangs out and staring deep in his dark eyes.
Many ideas ran through Jayashri's head, as usual she planned many twisted ideas about how things can turn out in her head. Only one of those ideas was them both walking out of here alive. She was on guard and ready to fight it off with this male if she had to. Or if she felt that she could easily have her way, it was just teasing her to kill you. "My name is Jayashri, you can call me Jaya. Sneaking up is my job and I'm always on duty", she gave him a dark proud stare. "Who are you? And where are you from?". The intonation in her voice sounded like an order but she knew that he may not want his identity revealed. Jaya didn't have no problem with letting others know her name, if they were going to be a problem they would be gone.
[[ Sorry it's not too good :/ I'm having trouble with her sarcasm.. ]]

[/img]

[atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2dazrwx.png] He could have kicked himself for not noticing the Doberman sneak up behind him, but it was all he could do to suppress the startled jump as her voice called out. The male bit back the annoyance, the retort, but it was clearly shown on his face as he turned halfway to look at her – the insult that was expressed as he did not deem it necessary to fully face this bitch. Her voice, her smile, it made a low growl rise in his chest – she was too confident; he’d have to deal with that.
Ruadh’s eyes followed the Doberman as she moved to his front, but he stayed standing, returning her gaze just as fully – he would not submit in any way to this female. Still, he frowned at her words – true, he was unfamiliar with this place, but he was hardly lost. Or...no, he definitely wasn’t. But he was not going to bow low enough to share residence with the rats and remnants of the humans and he fully intended to spit that barb back at the female.
But his pause of irritation seemed long enough, and before he could open his mouth, she had started to speak again. A smirk played on his lips – this dog would just be too easy, but there was no way he was going to follow her orders (that tone of voice just made dislike well up in his stomach), he’d keep her drooling in anticipation for his answers.Oh, I can, can I? That’s very kind of you, Jaya Was that a hint of sarcasm peppered in his words?
There was something in her eyes that made him want to irritate this dog, and he was set on seeing her despair. But something she had said clicked in his mind, and suddenly curiosity peaked. Duty, you say? I’m going to take a guess that you’re part of a pack, then? If she was, then there was a good chance that she was one of his own comrades that he had never bothered to meet. But, there was also a chance that she could be from an enemy pack, and if that was the case, she’d be a threat. Suddenly, his demeanour was all on edge – he’d be ready to fight, should he need.
If that’s the case, I’d be interested to know where your allegiances lie. A cold smirk and arrogant glare. Just so I know whether you’re worth my time or not. It’s was the setter’s turn to circle, as he moved around the femme’s body, sizing her up – he wasn’t terribly strong, but he could be rather vicious when it came down to it. Oh, and in answer to your question, you may call me Red, but it’s none of your business where I’m from, at least, not yet. He didn’t want her using his lack of knowledge about the Ragdogs to infiltrate them, if it did turn out she was an enemy.
[pffft, don't worry, it's perfect ♥]

Jayashri watched the setter type dog as he started to talk, just talk, not answer her questions. He instead got caught up on one of her words, duty. Yes, it was her duty to make sure that nobody gets around her superior and have a chance to pull any move. She had to prepare for the first move, the last move. Was she going to say anymore about it, of course not. It would blow her cover, even though her personality was sketchy in general. "A pack. Of course I have a side to defend.", she looked at the dogs stature, he didn't seem underweight. She assumed he may be a part of a pack as well.
She got up and watched the red dog, called Red, circle around her just as she did. She smiled as she stared, wondering if she were to say a name or not. "I defend the Ragdog Royal pack.", she turned and face him directly. "Is that what you were expecting? Or do we have a problem, Red?", and there she went again with that evil smile of hers. Her long and thin tail wagging in the air as she almost hoped for an enemy.

[/img]

[atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2dazrwx.png] Hah, so he had guessed correctly. A smug smile started to pull on the corners of his lips. Of course, it had been easy to figure out – no loner would use words such as ‘duty’, after all who were they loyal to but themselves? The setter’s body tensed almost imperceptibly; a loner would have been no threat to his pack, but there were plenty of spies from other packs roaming about, ready to find a weakness. In general, he hoped that this female was a comrade, but there was a little part of him that wanted her to be an enemy – he was already riled up and so far, not too fond of her.
But, the bitch’s next words caused his body to relax and he lowered his tail slightly. No. A little disappointed grunt escaped him but he covered his features with a smile, eyes finding the Dobermans. I suppose we don’t have a problem. He sat down and tilted his head a little as if in thought. It really wouldn’t do to make an enemy of an ally and by her words he was rather curious as to what rank she held. I apologise for not recognising you. I have not yet made much of an attempt at meeting fellow pack members.
Now was the time for proper introductions. My given name is Ruadh. I am a newly appointed Knight of the Ragdog Royale pack. Might I what your duty is? He dropped his gaze, instead following a rat that skittered out of the darkness just for a moment. He hated the human buildings, and just because this dog was a comrade, didn’t mean he had to like her, either. Though, I must say, I didn’t think I’d see a fellow member of the Ragdog Royale keeping the rats company. His tone was still polite, but he was curious as to how she would react to the thinly veiled insult.

Jayashri became much more relax, knowing that this dog was also a part of the Ragdog Royals. She thought that a dog with this built should be part of their pack. The doberman knew that dogs belonging to this pack tend to have an attitude problem and tend not to be quite nice. She wondered how this dog would be. Since she definitely had an attitude, she could handle being around other canines with the same problem. Ruadh, interesting name. I have not met any other Ruadh. Knight he says. Good, good., Jaya listened carefully to the information he let out and nodded.
Her wandering stare focus immediately when he asked about her position among the pack. She looked at him with a smirk on her face. She thought that he was quick on that question. Jayashri had been an assassin for a little while, and never had she mentioned her title before asking Hades to be one of his assassins. She questioned still this dog and couldn't be a hundred percent sure he really was one of them. Perhaps us Royals should have a code. Yes. A code that we could change every now and then, she smiled at her thought and how it would make things safer.
Her pondering was taking a bit too much time but Ruadh interrupted it with another question. She looked around and say a rat pass by in the shadows. "I'm not keeping them company. But I got to say that this place is a great shelter from that weather out there.", she looked at his long and thick red coat. "We're not all prepared for the cold winter days and there's not much shelter back at base." Jaya knew that she was just inventing a random excuse but it gave her an idea. She looked at Ruadh with a suspicious look as she took a few steps towards him. "Ruadh. You do know where that is, right?" She had a glimpse in her eyes that aspired to kill. She was already thinking about what she would do to this dog if he were to be an intruder.

[/img]

[atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2dazrwx.png] Ruadh listened to the bitch’s words with little interest, but his lips curved in a frown. Though her denial of keeping the rats company almost made him laugh – he hadn’t meant that in the literal sense, but perhaps she knew that. The rats probably enjoyed her company as much as he was right now, though that was partially untrue – there was something about this dog that made him want to keep pushing. The fact that she was a Ragdog should say something about her person, but he wanted to see it for himself.
I suppose that it’s only suitable that vermin take up the residencies of other vermin. Another jab towards her, the humans, the rats squirming in the darkness. At least the latter was useful for something, even if that only was a quick snack. He had never held much regard for the humans while they were still alive, but they had the sense to leave this earth. But he had yet to see just what this female could bring to the table – the fact that she avoided, no, ignored his question greatly irked him; he had been polite enough to at least acknowledge hers.
He looked her up and down from where he sat – her excuses might have held some weight. This time he let out a mirthless chuckle. Hah! Maybe my coat is a little...thicker than yours. Though it was a pain to keep clean and neat – the matted fur was itchy and uncomfortable and extremely difficult to manage should he let it get to out of hand. But even so, I’d rather brave rain and hail than stay in such suffocating confinement as this. The urge to leave had had to be fought down since the beginning, but at least he would not be resting here. The nightmares would be far more unforgiving and there was just no way he could go back to those times. No way. He would not be breathing in such stale air for any longer than he needed to. Besides, you’ll find that nature provides much shelter, if you’d just look. And much more comforting shelter at that.
As the Doberman moved toward him, Ruadh did not flinch, nor did he rise from his seated position. He simply returned her look with one of exasperation. Why were those suspicious eyes gazing at him? He had been the one to state his rank – if anyone had the right to be suspicious, it was him. Sighing, Ruadh finally shifted and stood to shake his fur. Of course I do! I probably spend more time there than you. The words where spat and the growl in his voice warned that she better not take the piss.
I’ve already given you my rank, the fact that I am part of the Ragdog Royale; that I have given my loyalty to King Hades. And yet, you’ve barely done that. His voice was rising, though he tried to reign in his anger. It was irritating him even more to think that this bitch would be getting to him in such a way. It is also my duty to protect the pack. And, as much as it pains me to say right now, that makes us comrades. By the end of the sentence, his tone had calmed somewhat again, and he admitted the last part somewhat begrudgingly. Surely the thick dog before him would get this!

The female doberman had found the insult through his words, she was about to show her teeth in unappreciation of the joke. She stared in his dark brown eyes and his dark red coat, in overall he was a good looking dog. She wondered what breed he was, never had she seen a dog looking like this one. She nodded positive on Ruadh's comment about the air ; it was suffocating. She wondered what had drawn her here last night. "I don't see comfort in nature, unless digging your own den. I like however having the abandoned human homes to myself. All those idiots gone!" Jaya loved bossing her first owner around, it brought her many things, but that second owner. Oh she was proud of what she had did to him. He deserved it.
The red dog got very upset when she asked him an obvious question. By the intensity of his reaction she knew he was probably telling her the truth. She didn't trust that easy though, she would have to spend more time around this guy. She sat down where she stood and listened. She had promised him loyalty but hasn't yet kill for him. She was willing to stay loyal to the white shepherd and was going to do so. The growl in this dog's voice made the little devil on Jaya's shoulder smile, her face remained the same though. She was due for a little fight, Maybe not with an ally though. Maybe we could go out together and find a member of another pack. Or even, a loner. Yes, try to convert him to our pack or fight. Jayashri had this habit of over thinking situations and get lost in her thoughts.
Ruadh finally calmed down and concluded with saying that they we comrades. The female Doberman sigh. "Alright, the 'duty' I have promised Hades is to kill for him and the pack. I'm one of his assassins."She stared in his dark eyes for a moment with an uneasy face. "I'm... sorry I didn't want to tell you what I did at first." The word 'sorry' wasn't normally in her vocabulary, but she wasn't going to spoil things with comrades. "I don't want the enemy knowing that I bring that type of news.", she chuckled trying to calm the conversation. "It wouldn't be easy to do my job if everyone knew who to look out for." Even though she was good enough to sneak up on anybody and do her job anyways. It was just a way for Jayashri to make her job easier.
Looking out behind the Ragdog knight, she looked at the light shining down the stairs. "I've had enough of this blame and dark place, should we go breath the morning air? The day is still young but there's not much time.", Hm, slightly poetic now. This air must be getting to my head! She had nothing specific planned for today. First things first, a breakfast. Her stomach was still rumbling as she hadn't been able to get to that raccoon. Good ridden! I'll find myself something much better up there. Jaya was curious to see if Ruadh would want to go back up with her, or if he was still going to patrol the area. She hadn't seen or smelt anyone else besides him.

[/img]

[atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2dazrwx.png] The red dog nodded at Jaya’s reply, the smile returning as he noticed her avoidance of his insult, well, there might have been a little bit of irritation there, but he couldn’t be sure. However, he was more focused on the word she had used to describe the humans and his ears perked up a little in response. He wondered if she held the same disdain for humans as he did. If so, then maybe she wasn’t as stupid as he had thought – those dogs who loved humans really needed to have their eyes opened. Still, there was only so much credit he could give this dog if she actually liked being copped within rotten walls.
Hmph. There’s plenty. He replied with a sigh, eyes closed. But I suppose I shouldn’t expect you to see that. He vaguely wondered if this dog had been a servant of the humans, but brushed the thought aside. The Ragdogs supposedly held mostly strays (or the free). Besides, it shouldn’t really concern him if she were an exception. His eyes opened but remained narrow – she should at least realise what these ‘homes’ really were. However, places like this, the word was spat out as though it was something vile, are nothing more than cages. Even with the humans gone.
Ruadh turned away a little bit at that, and closed his eyes tight against memories. But he quickly shook his head and transformed the seriousness of his face into a smirk. It wouldn’t do to show weakness, especially not toward one of his own pack. Damn it.
He watched the Doberman carefully as she responded to his outburst (that shouldn’t have happened), and smiled when she finally gave him the information he had requested. An assassin, huh? Although he was in two minds about this female, he had to at least respect that. Dogs with that kind of job must be skilled and therefore this female must also be skilled for Hades to have given her such a rank. That thought made him smile even wider at her apology – it didn’t seem like she was entirely comfortable with such a thing – and nodded at her word, chuckling along with her. It seemed some of the previous tension had vanished somewhat.
That’s fine. Said in reply to her apoloy. I can understand why you would not want everyone knowing about your rank. It must be helpful to retain a degree of anonymity, after all. Ruadh bowed his head a little bit. I feel that I should apologise to. I should not have got so heated about it. But I’m not fond of being called a liar. He was truthful about most things, even if he did sometimes choose to omit certain details.
Noticing when the female’s gaze drifted behind him, Ruadh turned his head as well, wondering what she was looking at. It didn’t take long for the answer to come, though, and her words drew his eyes towards the light, tail wagging slightly. Fresh air would be welcome right now. He was getting rather irritated at being down here for so long, even if he had not gotten far with his original intentions to ‘map’ out the place. He could always come back, and if not, well who knew what dangers lurked in the darkness for an enemy to fall prey to? I’ve already patrolled much of the inner city today. Oh how much an early riser could fit into a day! A break would not be a problem.
Was there anything in particular you were planning? The setter smirked slightly in amusement as his keen ears picked up a slight rumble. Breakfast, perhaps? He was ready for a bite to eat, himself.
[ack, finally! ♥]
