♫♪the wind is really blowingthe night sky is changing overhead♪♫ A bright full moon cast its gaze upon the snowy world below. It was sparkling and twinkling, but if someone was to peer closer into the woods they would notice a single pair of mismatched orbs. These orbs belonged to a tiny framed female that was scared of her own shadow. She was almost going on four years and she hadn't had contact with another dog since she was about one. Her ears twitched at every sound that came her way.
Her small frame flinching as an owl hooted from a tree above her. She let herself become exposed for a moment to move to hide behind another tree. In doing so she exposed her white coat freckled with black spots. The female mostly took the appearance of a Dalmatian but she was indeed a mix. She was a lovely sight but her personality would diminish her looks until it changed. One of these day she knew she was going to have to face another and gain more confidence. It was a miracle that she had survived this long on her own. She hunted but she was terrible, it took the female a few tries before succeeding.
Her eyes peered around the woods that she considered hers for the time being, but she didn't see anyone. For some reason the female felt another pair of eyes were watching. Eyes that the owl didn't own. Hello? Her words shaky, but there wasn't a way for her to change that. Her body turning every which way as her eyes scanned as many areas at once as she could. She hated the fact that she was a scaredy cat. She jumped at the sound of a snapping twig realizing a little to late that it was her own foot as she gave a yelp.
Her body turning with a jolt as she ran forward. Her head turned to look behind her. Her run slowing a little too late as she ran straight forward into what felt like a brick wall. Her body jolting back causing her to land on her back. She quickly let herself stand shaking her fur out before casting her eyes on the other form before her. ♫♪I'm the type who won't get oh so critical♪♫

The young male seemed to have an endless amount of energy, as even after daylight hours had passed, he was still up and running. It was like he never got tired at all. Luke was certainly the hyperactive type. All through the day, he had been roaming around the abandoned city, seeking out adventure. And he seemed to not have broken his energy streak. Lucas would surely prove an excellent provider and worker, especially now since he had pledged his allegiance to a pack.
Anyway, the Belgian Malinois just happened to be awake this fine - if not just a little bit unnerving - evening, just in time to witness the silver-and-grey patched night star rise up to its highest point. Lucas trotted along the outskirts of Westwood pack territory, his luminous amber-brown optics never leaving the moon as it climbed higher and higher into the blue-black speckled canvas the was the midnight sky. Awe was etched clearly into his extremely juvenile features, his black-splashed tassel waving to and fro in a vigorous motion. The brute’s pace never slowed. If anything, it built up in speed with every lengthy stride he took. The cool twilight zephyr tugged lightly tugged at his thick yet short fur, the strands of brown and black waving rhythmically and in sync with the breezes that floated past his figure.
Luke didn’t seem to know - or rather didn’t care - that he had crossed the scent borders and had entered the mysterious, haunted-looking forest that was the Dark Woods. The shepherd male was too busy gawking at the moon that he didn’t notice the cautious call of another creature, one that blended with the continuous hoot of an owl. He didn’t see the slowly nearing silhouette until it collided with him. Lucas was caught completely off-guard, which was his fault entirely. Hastily, the Belgian Malinois scrambled up to his paws, backing away from the other figure, who turned out to be another canine. He calmed down when he was sure that this other dog wasn’t a threat and wasn’t going to attack him any sooner. Once his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he could clearly see her. An apologetic smile crossed Luke’s face.
“I-I’m really sorry, miss. I didn’t see you there. I was just so engrossed with the moon a-and - I’m really sorry,” he woofed out, the notes that tumbled out of his mouth rushed. ♫♪the wind is really blowingthe night sky is changing overhead♪♫ The female wouldn't admit that the fall had hurt, she had gladly contained the "omph" that probably should have escaped. The years that she had spent alone and separate from everyone else had taught her not to show any sign of weakness. If the "omph" had escaped it would have shown just that. Only the strong survived in this world. Something she had learned long ago when the humans had let her go. Sure she would probably have a bruise later but she would walk it off.
Her mismatched orbs finally settling on a pair of brown ones, but her eyes adverted quickly to take in his full frame and fur color. He was black and brown and his breed had to belong in something of the shepherd family. Keeping her distance over the years, she didn't know her dog breeds very well. The words the male had spoke came out in a rush, but they sounded friendly enough. Kaia's gaze locked back on his for a moment or two before opening her jowls to speak. Her words shaky of course and she couldn't seem to hold the males gaze for too long. I think it might have been my fault, not watching where I was going. Her pitch seemed to be all over the place as she spoke. She wasn't used to speaking to another canine.
This male seemed friendly but that didn't mean Kaia trusted him. She didn't really trust anyone now a days. Maybe she had been on her own for far too long. She wasn't really sure what she should say next, besides of course her name. But she wasn't really ready to give it out, yet. Plus why should she provide her name when she didn't even know this canine. Sure Kaia had to admit she had to work on her doggie skills, especially now that she had moved into another city. But her thing was, would she really stay here that long? She was never one to stay somewhere for more than a month. But who knew, maybe she would actually find herself liking this town.
She soon realized her eyes had been locked on his, though not really. She was actually looking threw him deep in thought. She gave her head a quick shake, her eyes dry from the intense stare she was giving as they quickly watered. Her thoughts returning to what the male had actually said. Something about getting lost looking at the moon. Something they seemed to have in common. Enjoying the little things in life. But she wasn't about to admit to that. Her eyes had looking away letting her own gaze settle on the moon. Waiting to see what the male would do or say next. ♫♪I'm the type who won't get oh so critical♪♫
